Columbia University School of Social Work

With an architectural approach to the lighting of this classroom facility, clean ceilings and varying light levels defined many of the spaces.  Lighting of the two-story atrium draws students, faculty and visitors to the core of the building with a high light level accentuating both the silver-leaf ceiling above and the lounge area below.  Signature spaces include a curved, mosaic tile entrance canopy and a multi-story library with custom-designed chandeliers utilizing a high-efficiency induction light source.  The lighting addresses the multi-purpose nature of this contemporary academic building, which includes a library, computer lab, classrooms, lecture halls, offices, and student break-out spaces.
