This
expansion/remodel of a skilled nursing/adult care facility required a
great deal of attention to detail. Proper lighting is critical to the
well being of the senior residents whose aging eyes subject them to
visual discomfort more easily than the general population. Indirect
sources for general illumination are combined with decorative and
shielded sources to provide a comfortable, safe and pleasing
environment. Spaces addressed within the facility included patient
rooms, nursing stations, public corridors and meeting areas, dining and
recreation facilities as well as patient “spa” (shower) facilities. The
overall project goal was to provide a warm, home-like environment for
the residents.
