The Mississippi River
Bridge was expected to be the longest cable stayed bridge in the world.
At night, the forms of the bridge were designed to be revealed by
uplighting along its many cable stays (some as long as 1500’),
uplighting of its 400’ tall tower, and accent lighting of the base piers
to visually tie the bridge to its surroundings. Additionally, an accent
line of light connected both sides of the bridge, visually outlining the
horizontality of the roadway and tying together the two shores of the
Mississippi River.
